Tourette syndrome is a disorder that involves repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics) that can't be easily controlled. examples of tics are repeatedly blink your eyes, shrug your shoulders or blurt out unusual sounds or offensive words. however not everybody who has tourette’s swears.
no, to put an example it’s similar to coughing, sometimes you can hold in a cough and it goes away, sometimes you hold it in and it builds up where you end up still coughing, and sometimes you can’t hold it in. it’s completely involuntary and suppressing can actually be harmful.
it’s not a consistent disorder, it waxes and wanes, i can have good days , good months, and i can have bad days, bad months, a lot of tics also are less likely to be noticed like hiccuping, nose scrunches, inhaling, eyes darting, twitches, etc
+ disabled people don’t have to at their worst 24/7 to be still disabled

i’m unable to work due to tourette’s and due to sleep disturbances. i couldn’t finish school due to my sleeping problems. tourette’s is something ur born with but i didn’t know i had it until i was 19 in part due to it getting more debilitating. on bad days tics inhibit me from walking, it can make it hard to breathe/talk, can make me struggle with taking care of myself especially with motor tics , and self injurious tics can also be very damaging on my body.
